Ned Perwo- received a B.M. in Music Education with foci in trombone, piano, voice, and choral/orchestral conducting from The College of New Jersey (formerly Trenton State College).
At TCNJ he studied trombone with Donald Harwood of the NY Philharmonic and Brian Brown of the Delaware Symphony, voice with Dr. Nora Sirbaugh, piano with Mr. Jack Ervin, choral conducting with Dr. Michael D. Mendoza, and orchestral conducting with Dr. Philp Tate.
Continuing a diverse music education, Mr. Perwo also received a Master of Arts in Church Music with a concentration in organ and choral conducting from Capital University / Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. He studied organ with Dr. Paul Thornock and choral conducting with Dr. Lynda Hasseler.
Mr. Perwo is an ordained Deacon in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
He is the Director of Music / Youth & Family ministries at Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manasquan, NJ where he oversees an extensive music program which includes adult and children's choral ensembles, two worship ensembles, handbells, and seasonal concert offerings. He also oversees a vibrant Youth & Family program which includes education and activities for children in pre-K through grade 12.
In addition to his duties at Holy Trinity, Mr. Perwo maintains an active musical life as a conductor, teacher, and recitalist.
He is the Artistic Director of “The Island Singers”, a 60-member multi-generational community choir in Ocean County, NJ. Mr. Perwo is a member of several professional music organizations including the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, the Ocean County NJ / Southwest NJ Chapters of the American Guild of Organists, the Handbell Musicians of America, and the NJ Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. He is currently associate adjunct professor of Low Brass at Ocean County College in Toms River, NJ. Past honors include serving as the Dean of the Delaware Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and Worship Chair of the Delaware Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association.
Mr. Perwo has sung bass with Princeton Pro Musica, the Kinnara Ensemble, the University of Delaware Schola Cantorum, and currently sings with the New Jersey Chamber Singers.
In his free time, Mr. Perwo enjoys playing trombone with the Blawenburg Band of Princeton, NJ and maintaining his Hauptwerk home practice organ."
Andrew Van Buskirk - Mr. Van Buskirk has been a part-time accompanist for the Island Singers since 2016 and was made full-time in 2021. He studied music performance and production at Ocean County College and Ramapo College of New Jersey, graduating in 2013. He is currently the organist in Christ Episcopal Church in Toms River and Saint Junipero Serra Parrish in Seaside Park. He gives private instruction and piano, keyboard and organ and performs at adult communities throughout Ocean County. He also serves as the Treasurer of the Ocean County Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
